    Default LB7 ECM repair, AB28F400B5

Quick question about LB7 ECM repair.

    I have a couple dead ECM's here. I have a Willem GQ-4x4 programmer, and a PSOP-44 adapter obviously.

I have a bunch of LB7 .bin files. I assume I can just flash those straight with the Willem? Or do I have to click byte-swap?? Are there any other special settings that have to be ticked in the Willem program?

In the Willem program, they have AB28F400BX-B, and AB28F400BX-T....The LB7 flash chip says AB28F400B5. I THINK you have to select BX-B....not BX-T. Doesnt the BX-T have a different pinout on the chip?

The other question I have is regarding replacement flash chips. Finding the Intel AB28F400B5 is almost impossible, except from some random Alibaba/Aliexpress sources. Id rather not wait a month for chips that may or may not work.

I found a page or two that says on some LS1 PCM's, you can substitute an AMD AM29F400B chip (which is a little easier to find)...does anyone know anything about this? Would it work on an LB7?

You can't use the AMD Chips, the erase-flash process is different therefore the ECM will never be able to do things like a VIN change because it won't know how to handle the AMD chip.
I don't know the subtle differences between the Intel chips but I don't see why you would need new ones anyway. Remove the Flash, clean it up, erase/flash a good file then refit.
You don't want byte swap set or anything like that.

    Cheers,
    Ross
