Default Almost, but not quite there...

    Hi,

As you can guess, I am new to this....

I am having trouble getting a valid responce from my VX II V6 commodore.

    I get :
    Interface OK
    Chatter detected OK,

but when I start aldl I get a time out. This is the chatter I get when I start ALDL:

    Any ideas?

    Mike

Have you got the bus silence commands set up correctly?
See the attached screen shot for an example.

I checked the timings. I have not changed the VX V6 definition, and they are the same as those you sent.

I have a long cord between the car and the computer. Is this type of problem an indication of data loss over a cable that is to long?

    I'll try another shorter cable.

How long is the cable? I use a 30 foot serial cable with no problems.

    Some points to consider:

    1. Turn on the menu option View->Serial I/O. That will give more details about the data being sent to/from the vehicle.

    and

    2. Are you using a USB to serial converter? Most converters do not work with ALDL data because the baud rate required (8192 bps) is not supported by "mainstream" USB to serial converters.

I'm having the exact same problem with my VX and EFILive v4. Did this ever get resolved?

In the Module definition for the VX vehicle data stream change the ID from $F5 to $F7.

Sorry Mike, but I don't know. I presume you are trying to fit/enable LPG on a vehicle that was not factory fitted with LPG?

I would guess that the LPG switch on factory fitted Commodores would go to a specific pin on the PCM. Assuming non-LPG cars use the same PCM/operating system as the LPG vehicle then maybe you can replicate that on your PCM then you can switch LPG operating on/off.

Quick question. On a VX II using efilive 4, should the Airbag caution flash when I am logging data?
