    Question LS1 Idle Issues

    Hello guys,

    I just recently purchased a Holden VX LS1 and the original Ecm was locked via tuner before me. I was having major problems with the rpm's hanging on and pushing the car and causing front wheels skidding. I spoke to several people and advised to start again with a new ECM. I have done so but having problems sorting it out. I have found a std Holden tune from a with the same OS system 12202088 Cal 92105179.

    We are not sure completely of all work performed, It has a cam but unsure of lift / duration etc, it has the MAF removed and OTR fitted. pretty sure that's about it apart from the 3.9 rear end setup.

    I am now starting from scratch engine runs but is ramping all over the place, trying to sort this tune out. I tried going to COS3 but for some reason i couldnt get it to run. LS1B.ctzLS1B theft off after cos 03 new parrameters.ctz

    These are the 2 files the LS1 COS is with the EFI Custom operating sys and the LS1B is the new std file from an LS VX Holden 2001

    I have decided to upgrade to 12212431 after spending many hours reading many posts here. Joecars and SSpdDmon have some great reads and now have it alot closer. I am going to log RAFIG process tomorrow when it is cold. I have made small steps and flashed after each change and am seeing what this tool can do.

    I am now having a major issue with the trans in 3 and 4 not selecting correctly. Is it possible for someone to look over my tune and give me some Idea please!

    Slight correction, you upgraded to 12212156 with a calibration of 12212431. This is how you can run any of EFILive's available COS', that's the best 512kb LS1B PCM OS for this reason (and why it's so popular).

    Do you have a 4L80E? I'm seeing that is the segment being reported, yet the gear ratios are for a 4L60E (actually they're a little different than a normal 60E, what trans do you have?). If this is a mismatch, you'll need to correct it immediately otherwise you will cause damage to your trans. Check out SSPDemon's trans spreadsheet (HERE) and see if your values cross over each other, I'm betting that's the issue.

    Sorry ScarabEpic22 your correct it is a 12212156 with a calibration of 12212431.

    For the trans I never even looked at the Transmission code in the vehicle identifiers screen (my bad), I did copy the tables across from a 4L60E trans that was on dropbox (old tune file depot) So my question, do I need to find a calibration for a 5.7 and 4L60E to make use of the new coding?

    Thanks I will check SSPDemons spreadsheet too, when I reversed it out of the drive way I immediately knew it was way off and brought it straight back in. There is so much in the software that Ive never used before and trying to start with a totally different ECM has been a massive learning expierence.

    Ah, you need to segment swap it. All you need to do, is find a file with OS 12212156 and a 4L60E (hint, there are lots of them like this 02 Camaro) and use the segment swap functionality to copy the transmission and transmission diagnostics segments into your existing tune. From there, you can adjust shift points/pressure/etc.

    Quick segment swapping tips:
    1) Your tune and the tune w/the segment you want MUST be the same OS.
    2) Open your tune then using the compare function, open the tune with the segment you want.
    3) Edit-> Copy entire segment -> Transmission
    4) Edit-> Copy entire segment -> Transmission Diagnostics
    5) Save As with a new name to distinguish 80E vs 60E trans.
    6) Full flash the PCM with the new base file.

    Thanks ScarabEpic22, just copied the 02 camaro OS across and that fixed my problem. I have just logged the RAFPN and going to follow SSPdmon's idle pfd. So hope to have another update shortly!

    Included the logged files and the new updated OS and Cal

    ScarabEpic22, I have tried alot of different things but with this new cal, I do not get any Check engine lights and my fuel usage isnt working on my dash!

    Hmm its a little frustrating

    Hmm, did you start with a base file that matches your vehicle? I see the LS1B file in your original post, but it is 12202088. And the other file there is that 12202088 OS upgraded to COS3. So, is the reason you went down the path of upgrading to 12212156 to support COS5? Did you start with a VX 12212156 file?

    The 12212156 file was used from the dropbox link of ECU codes. Maybe it was a Camaro Cal code and not a holden code. I did manually copy all the tables across but it seems it is something behind the scene. I might go back to the 1220288 and see if that rectifies the issue.

    The Reason I jumped up to the latter code was from articles I read of SSPDMON. But that makes scense! Really appreciate your help.
