Default What is the OS ID?

What exactly does the OS ID mean? I know it's defined as "A two-letter code that further identifies the operating system." Does that mean it is what dictates what OS's can be flashed onto an ECM? For example; the OS ID of an ECM is "AM." Does that mean any OS that shares that OS ID can be flashed onto the ECM?

The OS id is usually an 8 digit code, for example 12202088 or 12212156.

Post the file you have, let me have a look.

    Ah, I see.

That field does not determine what OS can be flashed.

Usually, OS's that come from a like PCM can be interchanged.

Your ECM looks like it's an E40... I'm not sure if all the E40 OS's are interchangeable, I imagine they are since E40 was only a short run of 2-3 years.

It is a ls1B ecm. I know I bricked a different ls1B by flashing that tune onto it so I have been trying to figure out what Os's were compatible with what ECMs so I don't waste another licence.

That tune runs on the E40 ECM, so you should not flash it to any of tbe LS1B PCMs.

    The LS1B PCMs are divided by 512K, 768K, 1M...

which PCM do you have and drom which year/model/vehicle...?

The vehicle is a 05 Cadillac CTS V. I have it running fine now with that tune on a stock ls1b ecm with hardware #12586243. I don't have the hardware/service numbers on hand for the bricked ecm but looks to be a 1MB as well. What other factors do you have to watch for to prevent bricking an ecm?
