Default MTX-L Wideband serial to Flashscan V2

Ok I'm ready to make the big step and finally log with a serial connection! But i have a couple of questions, here it goes.

I have a Innovate Motorsports MTX-L It has the serial out port with a molex connector, Now if i purchase this cable https://www.amazon.com/Innovate-Moto.../dp/B001S7URFW and cut off the 2.5mm and replace that with a RJ12 plug, and throw that into the RS232 Port on the Flashscan v2 would that work?

save yourself the money and just cut off the plug on the guage and run a new cable to the v2

I'll have to take a look at one of my older units tomorrow. I think it's white/blue though. but I'm not certain until I look.

I'm pretty sure you need pin2 on the rj12 plug for rx on the v2. so what ever colour that is in your plug will need to be the connected to the tx wire from the mtx-l

    Appreciate it Tre-Cool!

Am I over thinking this? Is it just red to red black to black and the blue to yellow or green? If it doesn't work just switch them around?

in one of the help docs it has the pinouts for the v2 listing what the pins are for.

basically all you need to do is have the rx pin on the v2 connected to the tx wire of the mtx-l. so providing you have enough pins in your cable connected on the v2. you can just play with the wires until the v2 starts receiving data.
