Are you using a null modem adapter (it must say "null modem" on it)...?

no i am using a ethernet cable that i made connecting the ethernet socket on the 2j9 and the data socket on the flash scan the cable seems to work fine. i think the problem is with the calc_pids file as i recently put the car on the dyno and the mixtures were off especially at wot i tuned for 12.9 and they on the dyno it showed high 10s

Ok, your calc_pids.txt has a few errors and is attempting yo use the analog wideband connection.

Use this calc_pids.txt from the Calc.VET thread... look at the pid CALC.WO2BEN and how it is defined.

Is this your intent: to use your TechEdge 2J9 to tune the VE and/or MAF tables on your LS1/Gen3...

if so, then copy the calc_pids.txt I linked in post #8 to the folder C:\users\<you>\Documents\EFILive\V7.5\User Configuration

then select and log the following pids:
    - GM.EQIVRATIO
    - EXT.WO2xxx1 (i.e. WO2LAM1, WO2EQR1, WO2AFR1, WO2ST1)
    - CALC.WO2BEN

the BEN correction pid you will use to correct VE/MAF tables is CALC.WO2BEN.
