    Default Can't copy segments anymore

Hey, long time no see. Question, did the latest update eliminate segment copying? I just tried to upload a tune for a 2001 Silverado as an alternate to a tune for a 2000 Silverado so I can copy the segment over, and it says it won't allow it because the operating systems are different. I've compared these two tunes in the past, as both tunes are licensed to me. Before I updated my setup, this worked with no problems. The 2001 has OS 12208322, the 2000 has OS 12212156. I tried checking the tutorials and looking for other threads on the site but had no luck. Thanks.

You can only copy segments from same OS id's... you can't copy from different OS's... it's always been like that.

Except I've done it before, because I've copied a newer system into my 2000 model in the past. The factory OS for my truck was 09381344, it now has OS 12212156. Am I missing, or misunderstanding something here?

It has never been possible to copy segments between operating systems using the EFILive software. Even if you did manage to somehow physically copy the data from a segment in OS 09381344 to the same segment in OS 12212156, the calibrations from 09381344 would not line up with what the OS 12212156 expected.

You may have had both operating systems open in two versions of the EFILive V7 Tuning Tool software and used copy/paste to copy the data from one tune file to another. But that's the only way you'd be able to get the calibration data from one OS into a different OS.

I've attached my factory original program and the one that's in the truck now. Did the same for my mother's truck as well. It worked pretty well at one time. Unless perhaps I'm thinking I did something but actually did something else? Thanks.

Looks like you did a full flash of a newer operating system than what the vehicle originally came with.

If I had to guess, you flashed a 2001-2002 operating system into a 99-00 vehicle.

That does ring a bell. Still, based on this I'd think that I would be able to compare a 2001 model truck. I found another program that would load, and it was for a 2002 model truck. Thanks folks, I think this will cover me for now.
