Default Changed Vin, Same PCM, Do i need a new license? V2 flashscan

    Hi Folks,

I am trying to re flash a PCM (LS1B) that I have flashed multiple times with my V2 and used a vin slot to do so. Since my tuner is using another tuning platform there has been some OS system changes in order for us both to be able to talk to the same PCM with both tuning platforms. In the process of this the Vin for my PCM has been changed and now I cannot flash the same PCM that I have paid a license for. I am getting error 0533 , No available vin slots?
Am I understanding this correctly in that because the Vin has changed V2 is seeing it as another PCM?

How can I flash the same PCM without buying another license?

    TIA
    Jeff

With EFILive, if the PCM is the same, then you do not need a new license (regardless of VIN).

Yes, your tuner swapped the PCM for a different one.

Each PCM has a unique serial number, you will find that your current PCM has a different serial number than the one you previously licensed.

Otherwise, if it is the same PCM, then you should be able to flash it from your existing PCM license, regardless of the VIN programmed into it.

Have a talk with your tuner.

    Hi Jeff,

    Start EFILive V8 S&T...

Click Tune, click Open, and select your LS1B .ctz file, click Open, you should see a Calibration Summary pop up, take note of the Serial Number; then click Close.

Then, back at the V8 S&T main window, click on Licenses, click the VIN tab, and look at what you have previously licensed, under Engine you will see the PCM's serial number...

    compare the serial numbers...

Post screenshots of both of those here (hint: use SHIFT-PRTSCR).

    Thanks Joecar.

This makes total sense. After having drama's with flashing I checked the serial numbers from various previous flashes and yes they are different. I just wasn't sure if the serial number were reflashed along with the Vin. But this explains everything. Now to begin the head hunt for who swapped my PCM and why and if my engine is even running on the tune I paid for long ago or some random generic.
