Default Do I need a license

I bought a V2 scanner for my 98 Trans Am a few years ago. If it came with 2 VIN licenses, can I use it for my 05 Suburban, or do I have to buy a different license?

If you only purchased the V2 Scan-only, then you do not have any licenses and will need to purchase the GM Tuning option.

If your V2 has GM Tuning enabled, and you have 2 VIN licenses available (98 LS1As are free), you just need to update your software and V2 bootblock then V2 firmware and license it. You do not need to purchase anything else.

I've been using it to tune the car, but for some reason I remember only seeing the option to tune one VIN. I'll plug it into the truck tomorrow and see what happens.

Plug your V2 into your PC and open V8 S&T, F7: Licensing, and click F3: VINs. You should see all of your VIN licenses and see 0 used and 2 free (for each Engine and Transmission). If you upgraded the PCM in your 98 to a 99-02 PCM, then you will have used 1 Engine VIN license for that.

Worked perfectly. I guess there's no way to make the TPS codes stop reminding me that I don't have them installed anymore, is there?

You mean 'Tire Pressure System' not "Throttle Position Sensor" right?

Nope, that's a BCM function. In some 07+ trucks, you can purchase BCM tuning from Oz Tuning and Im not sure what they support.
