    Default LMM Vin Change

    Hello,

In stock application, is it required to change the vin when exchanging an ECM?

And just a VATS relearn is required? or can this be prepped in the tune.

It isn't required in that it has no impact on the theft system, but it would be the right thing to do to have the correct VIN in the ECM.
I'm not 100% sure how well the VATS auto-relearn works on the Bosch ECM's though, it cannot be pre-set in the tune as it is an on vehicle process to link them.

From what I understand if the ECM is not brand new then it needs to be unlinked from the vehicle first with a code the dealer obtains. Then the link process to the new vehicle can be done, this is all done using the dealer tools.

Maybe tuners who have done ECM swaps on the LMM might be able to chime in with what they've found.
