Default 6.7L Swap to Old GM Truck - Use 5.9L or 6.7L ECM?

I'm swapping a 2007 6.7L into a 80s GM truck. My swap engine has the EGR and DPF equipment, but I would like to not use it on the 80s truck. I originally thought I could eliminate this equipment with EFI software, but I have been reading posts indicating this isn't supported.

I have also read some threads with guys running 5.9L ECMs with 6.7L swaps. Since the 5.9s didn't have the DPF and EGR, would I be better off trying to run this 6.7L with a 5.9L ECM and software?

    Any insight and thoughts appreciated.

    Thanks

You can use ecm from an 07.5 - 09 Cummins and still handle what you need in EfiLive software.

I do have 7.5 and have looked at files, but the posting indicates US customers won't be able to save the changes (waiting to buy EFI Live until I can confirm it will do what I want, so I don't know if my changes will save or not).

You have to own a V2 before you can save changes to a file in V7.5 .
This is supposed to change for the V8 editor..

Yeah... I can understand having to own a hardware box to save. What I am concerned about, is that when I purchase the hardware box, it will tag me as US only and not allow me to save certain parameters. i.e. What I am seeing right now is not reality in terms of what I can actually modify in the software.

Also, the V2 doesn't appear to be available for purchase - only the V3. But if I get the V3, the V8 software doesn't support the Cummins. So am I stuck waiting until V3 supports Cummins to purchase anything here?

    Thanks for the help

You can buy a V3 & still use V7.5 for tuning... From what I've read is in the beginning plans were to restrict US based people from having emissions parameters available, but since it wasnt going to be easily applied they just decided to not support emissions "anymore" moving forward.. What's currently mapped will stay mapped (07.5-09) & i think some duramax's... You should be fine as far as v7 goes, V8 might be diff. story....
