The 2021 ECMs have a boot block that contained a "bug" that could be exploited to bypass the digital signature - Cummins fixed that bug in the 2022 boot block update.
So no, you can't use 2021 ECM to gain access to a 2022 ECM, the only way would be to change the boot block in the 2022 back to the 2021 boot block, but you can't do that until/unless you supply the correct digital signature (or bypass it, which cannot be done).

Warning: Getting your 2021 ECM flashed at a dealer can update the boot block to the 2022 boot block thus rendering the ECM no longer tunable.

    Paul
So basically if dealer flashes the 2021 ECM you WILL be locked out or will possibly be locked out?

Possibly locked out - we have heard of it happening (anecdotally) but have not confirmed that it happens.

Is there a way to check if the Boot Signature has been updated without trying to flash the ECM?

Unfortunately it appears Cummins did not implement some of the OBDII commands correctly that are used to obtain the boot block version number, so unfortunately there is no easy way to know.

So the option is to use a 19-21 for a 22 Cummins flashed with the calibration and VIN of the 22. Will this work and is there anything else that needs to be programmed to get it to work?

I don't know if that will work. It is not something that EFILive has worked on, tested or explored.

Bit more to it then that unfortunately. Need few extra things to make security happy etc. If its 68rfe truck will need converter pi curve programmed as well. Any 19-21 file will work as well with enough messing around. my 22 runs efi CSP5.

Are you running one of the two OS that efi live currently supports csp5 on the 5th gens?

So let me get this straight real quick. You're using OS 52.20.03.00 that is associated with cp4 based calibration ID's on a cp3 truck? Any editing outside of efi live done for cp3 to function correctly? Thank you for your help.
