    Default Bars

    Probably a very dumb question but one I feel I should understand before I melt something. What exactly is meant by 1 Bar, 2 Bar and 3 Bar?

    Pretty sure it is the MAP pressure when going into boosted modes (2, 2.5, 3 Bar), I know 1Bar is regular tuning which is what most (if not all) cars/trucks come with. The 2Bar, 2.5Bar, and 3Bar OSs give more tables for tuning under boosted conditions allowing better performance when boosted.

    Places where you drink or if in FI situations. 14.7 PSI is 1 bar, 2 bar is double that and so forth. It refers to Pressure. I run 12.5 PSI on top of the 1 bar 14.7 PSI so I'm not quite 2 bar under full boost.

    I sure hope I got that one right! If not, I'm sure I'll hear about it.

    I understand that first part.

    So if you are refering to MAP at double boost for 2BAR what controls that boost? Assuming richer AFR and more spark?

    1 bar = 1 atm = 101.3 kPa = 14.6 psi

    bar is a unit of pressure.

    Normally aspirated (non-booted) creates maximum MAP of 1 bar (atmospheric);

    Forced Induction (boosted) creates maximum MAP above 1 bar:
    2 bar = 1 bar boost + atmospheric, 3 bar = 2 bar boost + atmospheric;
    each requires the correct MAP sensor and sensor scale factor (in the COS).

    What controls boost:
    SC: speed of impellers (driven via belt by engine crank);
    TC: exhaust gas flow and waste gate (controlled by several different methods).

    bar is a unit of pressure.

    Non-boosted: 1 bar (max MAP = atmospheric);

    Boosted: 2 bar (1 bar on top of atmospheric), or 3 bar (2 bar on top of atmospheric); each requires correct MAP sensor (and COS).
    Then there's the whole inertial supercharging thing... !split hairs.

    I owe you an ftp transfer.

    Thx Guys, I get it:

    My car normally aspirated is 1 Bar. With a Super or Turbo Charger depending on my boost I can be higher Bar. Essentially a 3 Bar engine is one mean mofo.

    joecar - I found a bolt what should I do with it?

    NewV,

    If you found a bolt, then it is not a lost bolt anymore, so I am not in charge of it.

    Joe

    Edit: Or just post it (the bolt) in the Lounge in the Lost Bolts thread.
