Default 00 to 02 os question

I'm going to attempt to change to an 02 from an 00 OS. In the sticky's it says to copy every old table to the new OS. My question is, do you have to do this just to save what tuning has been done previously?

In other words, if I've done only minimal tuning, can I just flash the stock 02 tune that I downloded from Holden Crazy and tune from that base? My intention is actually to migrate to OS 5 once the 02 system is in.

That is correct. If you want to start from stock again then you don't need to copy the data from the original tables.

Will there be any conflicts in the system with the VIN and OS? In other words, will any problems occur with the PCM or with Scan/Tune when an 00 VIN is coupled with an 02 OS?

You can use the Scantool to program your VIN back to the PCM

I also have an 00 ... would reflashing to the 02 system potentially cause any driveability or operating problems? I compared a lot of tables last night and they are quite different - the Main VE table, for instance.

I am interested in doing this to simplify the Auto VE tune that I'll do after I get headers installed. But the car would have to run well in the meantime.

It is very common practice from what I've seen to go to the latest version of the OS's. Camaro/TransAm for instance go to 12212156 for instance.

That's what I am planning to do ... just wondering if there were any potential issues to be aware of.

Well, that's pretty simple ... I was thinking along the lines of running, but running like crap.
