    Default High Oil pressure

Hey guys, was driving out to the beach this morning and about 20 mins into my trip my oil pressure started to rise and continued to rise till it got to about 700kPa and then my engine lamp came on on my dash. When i got to the beach with just normal driving with one or two stabs I had my max oil pressure around 900 kPa.

Driving around yesterday it never rose over about 300-400 so I am confused to wat has caused my oil pressure to rise so high.

On the way home it was around 800 kPa then froze at 897 kPa and didnt change for the rest of the trip!!!! I dont know whether this is a genuine oil pressure problem or the pressure sensor was on its way out and now has stuffed up???????

I checked my DTC's and it gives an oil pressure fault (See attached images)

I change my oil every 5000km/s and only use castrol edge fully sinthetic (spelling) so i cant see how the oil itself is a problem as it is very good oil (and expensive).

    Any Ideas?

Seems like you had a clot or the sending unit could be on the way out.

The sending units are known to fail.

Very unlikely that there's anything wrong with your engine. This is either the sending unit itself or an electrical connection (ground). If you've been changing your oil every 5K and using oil that meets the SAE specs it's not likely a bearing failure.

On the LS series stateside, it sits on the rear of the valley cover close to the firewall. Having one fail and give either high or low reading is almost normal. As long as your engine sounds normal there is a 90% chance that is the problem.
    Be happy.

Yeah its giving a high reading. I turned the ignition on in my car and checked it without starting it and it was reading the same so i dare say the sensor is stuffed.
