I've picked up some knowledge of EFI live here and their. But its not enough I dont know of any such kind of traineship or apprenticeship in this industry.

I think the best bet is to look in Street Commodores or Street Machine to get an idea of the shops in Melbourne.
I would suggest it will be hard to just walk in somewhere and get let loose on a vehicle, but you are obviously very passionate about wanting to do this so I can't see that being a hurdle for you.

Try to get familar with the various tuning packages (Kalamaker for the old Holden V8's) and aftermarket computers like Motec and Autronic etc, most dyno shops will see all these, not just LS1.

Motec run tuning courses in Melbourne, that might be a plus for you.
Also, EFI University runs tuning courses in Australia.

It would be well worth attending them.

("P.S - A Maloo on P's, oh, the cops must love you!")

been pulled over 4 times gone to court 1once. Get evil glares from P platers. but it doesnt even come close to being bad its worth all the pain.

cheers for the information. greatly appreciated.

but although what does a tuning shop really want I mean it is hard to get experience with cars with different requirments unless your in a work shop.

so far i'v tuned a SS work ute which could NOT do burnouts
    the maloo obviously
and a VU ss with Auto troubles.

but all info is kept in mind and I hope to get there 1 day .

& nah sorry WAIT4ME no shop just keen as mustard.
    thanx
