Default To the EFILive Guys: Additional Make Model Tuning

What would it take to expand the realm of tuning out side of the LS1/GM products line?

Reason I ask, I've recently aquired an '03 Dodge Dakota and I'm all ready getting the bug to swap cams, bore, stoke, etc... But there seems to be a lack of tuning software readily available to re-calibrate the PCM.

Back to the "what would it take?", I for one would plop the money down for it today. But how many other takers would you need to make the R&D investment worth your while?

A few days in the R&D labs at FORD, Chrysler etc

The big issue comes down to each manufacturer of PCM's do things VERY differently.

    GM use Delco/Delphi
    FORD use Visteon
    Chrysler use Motorola from memory.

I know FORD/Visteon make things pretty difficult to reverse engineer. Same for Chrysler.
Some of the inport stuff is just impossible (Toyota/Denso being one of them).

For us we have been around Delco/Delphi PCM's for sometime so we are 'comfortable' with them and it still takes us 12hr working days to bring you guys the product we now have.
It would be near impossible for us to start from scratch on a new manufacturers PCM unless somebody came on board with prior knowledge, but that is unlikley to happen.

    Sorry!!.

    Cheers,
    Ross

Or another solution would be to trade the Dakota for a Tahoe...

OUCH! Sorry, I couldn't resist.

SSBaby - Ironicly, I have a few parts from an '02 Tahoe in my TA.....

    Joecar has the right idea.

If the GM truck line was astheticly pleasing to me as Daimler's, I'd be all over it.

Ross - What's the best way to get hold of you? I'd like to look into this a little more. From the Mopar forums I visit, I think there is a substantial market out there for this kind of product.

Thought I dig this one back up...

If you guys haven't 100% ruled out additional support, I would like to contribute to expanding the line anyway I can.

The Chrysler demand is huge in Colorado with the relaese of the charger and the Magnum. Not to mention the truck people. a useable platform would be gold mine for us. As far as Ford (blue oval smurf turd) ScT has a decient system for what I've seen of it. Most Nutstang owners are CHeap and want upgrades for free! It's a wonderful thought but sounds expensive and complicated.

If all the sensors were the same or close then maybe you could use an LS1 computer in a Dodge or Toyota.
