    Default OS files

    I am planning to do a full reflash and then work on the custom OSs, but can't find where to download the full operating system files - ie: 2001 or 2002 OS. I will be converting from a 2000 OS. Am I missing something - I did a search but only see the tune files.

    Thanks!

    One in the same Sir. The .tun is the full OS except with no cals.

    If you want stock cals for the OS try www.holdencrazy.com
    Get EFILive in europe (http://www.efilive.eu).

    Go with the 2002 Camaro tune (12212156) as this will give you the option to go with COS5.

    You have to copy your 2000 cals into the new 2002 tune table-by-table, as described in the COS tutorial.

    Edit: oh, maybe it's not described in the COS tutorial...

    OK, got it guys, I just need to be patient and read further. The cal files are partof the tune file, just loaded separately - yes? So if I want stock calibrations, I do a full reflash, then load calibrations from the came file, yes?

    DaddySS,

    Almost...

    Yes, the cal can be flashed by itself (cal flash) or with the os (full flash).

    But...

    Since the 2000 and 2002 tunes have different OS's, you can't just full flash the 2002 tune and then cal flash the 2000 cal (because some of the tables are different or transposed...)...

    You have to do this:
    a. open 2 instances of the tune tool (one on the 2002, one on the 2000);
    b. copy by hand all the tables from the 2000 to the 2002 (takes 1 hour);
    c. save the modified 2002 to a new filename;
    d. full flash the modified 2002 into the PCM;
    e. verify that the car runs properly.

    Now you're ready to flash COS3 or COS5: just follow the COS tutorial.

    Cheers
    Joe

    I'm sure I am sounding confusing but what I am trying to do is basically start fresh with a stock tune. So if a 2002 tune will work on a 2000 car, then I can use the OS and cal files from the 2002 tun file, if not then I will need to copy calibrations from the 2000 stock tune file by hand from the 2000 stock tune to the 2002 tune file, flash the 2002 OS then load the 2000 calibrations from the file I just created - yes?

    Question- do you have a successful / somewhat successful tune for your mods in the 00 cal format? If yes, then transpose those modified 00 tables to the 02 cal/OS. If you are just starting from scratch, meaning no tuning yet so far then you can start with a totally stock cal/OS. Hope that helps.

    I have it tuned now but it has been modified multiple times and I was considering just starting with a clean palette. I may just copy the existing tables over - not sure yet.
