Default EFILive doesn't recognize my PCM

    Hey guys....lurker/noob here.

I just updated to build 555 to try reading the PCM on my '99 Chevy K1500 Pickup (5.7L Vortec). Once downloaded, it told me the PCM was not recognized and to email it to the support address. I just sent the .tun file out to support, but was wondering if you guys knew what might be wrong. Here is the information I can see in the Tuning tool:

    OS: 09365085
    Calibration: N/A
    OS ID: PB
    BCC: N/A

    EFILive calibration definition file (*.cal)
    Name:09365085.cal
    Version: N/A
    Date: N/A

    Segment ID Checksum
    Operating System 09365085 $4DF6
    Engine Calibration 9364825 $0473
    Transmission Calibration 16232737 $5153
    Fuel System 9351030 $6F19
    System 9351051 $44C2
    Speedometer 16188969 $61C0

That's all I can see.....everything in the calibration tab on the left is un-clickable. I'm a complete beginner on this stuff, and clueless for the most part, but I never had these issues with the GTO.

Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Already got your email and replied. You need the cal files also, which were released after the latest software build: http://efidownload.iqd.co.nz/softwar...librations.zip

    Andrew,

I did download the cal files, and extracted them to the calibration folder. Do they just go in the Calibrations folder or do I create an L31 folder inside that one for the cal files? Thanks for the quick reply!

    Edit:
Nevermind Andrew...I made a folder inside the "Calibrations" folder named "L31", and placed the 4 .cal files inside...now everything seems to work fine. Might want to edit the release post to mention it. Thanks again.

Mine seems to work fine in the "L31" folder. Just for grins I tried renaming the folder to "Vortec" and it doesn't work that way for me.

I guess I'll leave the L31 folder in there until I notice any problems.

Just follow this link that Tordne posted above:
    http://68.178.219.18/software/Vortec_Calibrations.zip

Create a folder in the "Calibrations" folder called "L31" and place the 4 .cal files in that folder. The "navigator_l31" text file goes in the "Calibrations" folder with the other navigator files, not in the "L31" folder.

Try that, and see how it works for you.

Just to clarify where the *.cal files need to go:

Always try to put them into their correct subfolder, for Vortec that is in
    \Program Files\EFILive\V7\Calibrations\L31\

If the *.cal file is not found in the correct subfolder, then to maintain compatibility with older installations, EFILive will then search in the folder above:
    \Program Files\EFILive\V7\Calibrations\

    Regards
    Paul

Thanks Paul. Unfortunately, the original thread with the link to the *.cal files instructed to put the *.cal files directly into the \Program Files\EFILive\V7\Calibrations folder. Might want to go update that for us newbies.
