Hard to say these days, both are putting out amazing HP numbers and aftermarket parts for both is plentiful.
I'm pretty sure most of the LLY big players ditch the VVT in favor of a 'normal' turbo if you are going to go that far.
LLY's did (maybe still do) have an inherent overheating problem when towing, I might be wrong, but I don't think anyone has really solved that 100%.
Personally I would get an LLY just for the VVT, but then I also would not be pushing it to the 600Hp+ mark.

The LLY you don't need to remove the valve covers to replace injectors.

With the over heating problems with the lly. I have owned 2 of them the 04.5 and a 05 dually never had an overheat problem with the 05 it had 60,000 miles on it. All hard pull miles 36,000+ pounds dont tell dot. But my 04.5 lly doesnt over heat neither but it hasnt pulled anything over 20,000 pounds maybe i have just gotten lucky i still have the 04.5 lly its still runs good 60--- but the 05 got totaled
