Is there ever going to be one? Wondering if there is a big demand for this. I see a lot of 98's in people sigs. I know of a lot of 98 boosted cars too.
I would love to have a COS for my car would make my tuning life so much easier.

It's been talked about, and IIRC, it will still be a while before a custom OS for 98's is available.
that stinks there is alot of 98 owners that want this.
Take matters into your own hands. The fruit is definitely worth your labor.

My undertsanding is that it's not a difficult conversion to do, but requires a later instrument cluster, a later fuel level sending unit, repinning the PCM connectors, and a later PCM... probably a weekend project (or less) if you have all the parts ready... but the tuning benefits are worth it (single VE table and other table "improvements"), and would allow a custom OS to be used (...COS5 has a TPS VE table for tuning big cams...).
That is my understanding of this subject.
Others on this forum will have the exact details... and I belive ls1tech.com has info on this.
Cheers
Joe
I think for alot of folks the gas tank / instrument cluster is/are the deal breakers here. All you 98 cavedwellers, er owners come out of the darkness and step into the light of the best reason why all LSx based GM owners should use EFI Live... the Custom Operating Systems. You really don't know how much you are missing.
For the really sharp peeps out there, would it be possible to do a segment swap for the fuel sending unit calibration btw the 98 to 99+up?
For the Mgt. If it is not a current possibility due to technical reasons it would be a nice apeasement / gesture / patch for those 98 owners willing to do the main pcm wire connectors which really are not that hard. I always cringe at my work when engineers start suggesting what they think are grand things in a whimsicle way...I am not trying to do that. I know you guys have plenty on your plate already.
From my personal standpoint I thought it was pretty standup for EFI Live to support the 98s at all, and unlimited. I just took matters into my own hands so to speak.
