Why on occasion after I flash a new tune into the PCM the dash guages do not function?
I reflash the new tune and everything is aok.

Interesting, Ive noticed this only when Im reflashing my LL8, the guages go all the way left and I get a "check guages" light, but if the flash is successful, Ive never had a problem after that. Pretty sure it has to do with the way the LL8s take the tune though.

My car is a 2004 Corvette, I've reflashed it probably 50 times and this has happened 5 or 6 times. It happened yesterday which is the reason for this post.
I get the check gauges light and none of the guages work.
Just wondering why it happens.

I had the same thing happen awhile ago. What works for me is when it says to 'turn off the ignition' after a flash, I also take the key out of the ignition. Have not had the problem since, maybe just lucky.
In your tune tool properties, do you have it set to clear DTC's automatically after flash? (see picture)
Some dash modules don't seem to like it when PCM is being flashed and will create a DTC for that module (and maybe stop working on your case)
Clearing the module's DTC might bring them back to life.
Just a possibility

Dave.
Mine is set to clear the codes just as the picture.Originally Posted by Biggsy

We've changed some things in the new upcoming software release that may help in this area.

I have the same problem occasionally with my 2001 Corvette. It seems as though all of the modules don't get reset on occasion. (May have something to do with the phase of the moon or position of the planets.) Last time it happened, I checked the DTCs and found that communication module had taken a lunch break. Clearing the codes didn't help, but a reflash always cures the problem. I've never had the problem with an LL8 or any other LSx-powered vehicle-- only C5s.

Yea, Ive never had a problem with the reflash (unless my laptop battery dies...), my truck just does some crazy guage things while Im flashing, once its finished everything works perfectly.
