Displacement (distance) is the integral of velocity (VSS) over time (this is the area under the speed-vs-time curve).
To do distance travelled, VSS must be converted to some fundamental units (such as m/s or ft/s), and then this must be integrated over time (units in seconds (s)), but the integration must be gated by some conditional (such as VSS was previously zero, and is now increasing monotonically, and TPS is greater than 80%, and we have not yet travelled 1/4 mile or not yet reached 60 MPH).
