Default V2 came today! Time to start my tunes. Thinking about taking it slow.

So I have 2 VIN's. An 01 5.3 Sierra and an 06 Envoy 4.2. How about this for phase 1?

Envoy, wifes car. Does not jump off the line. Shifts early and slow.
I understand there are two places for Tq management adjustments. One in Spark that does the overall and 1 in transmission for each of the upshifts. Because the 4.2 has less than 300hp I am thinking about setting both to 0 TQM. After removing the TQM I will drop the shift times to 0. Does anything need to be done after setting the shift times to 0? Then I will bump up the shift RPM's to get it to hold the gears longer. I think those mods alone will add some pep to the thing. We will leave it at that for a while. Later we will start to tune the engine for better MPG using our 89 octane gas.

Sierra, my ride. Truck is almost stock. Drives fine except the torque converter seems to never unlock. Truck also has larger tires than stock, so that will be the first to fix. Other than that I will start off just like the Envoy. Remove TQM and mod the shifting to my likes. The truck also has a Tow/Haul button that I want to use as a Haul-Ass button. I will start on the engine this weekend. I will ask about that in another thread.

Sorry if this is so basic. Just trying to get a feel of things. I am so excited. I did have an 04 LQ9 and the Nelson tune I had made that truck fly.

    Thanks

    RRTJ, welcome.

You may also consider increasing the shift pressure curves for each shift.

After doing everything, if the shifts become too harsh, put some TM back and set shift times to 0.2s.

I would delete that file Tuned, It has some weird crap in it and will not do well. One being that the commanded air fuel ratio is 9 to 1.. Not good for anything except for washing down the cylinder walls.

But that 0.2s will also make it adaptave. Not sure what that is exactly. I want very firm WOT shifts. I will play with it to get my part throttle shifts where wanted. I should be able to figure it out, with trial by error at least.

I will worry about the engine a little later.

Thanks to all for the welcome.

0.2s means the PCM adapts the next shift to takes 0.2s.
0.0s means the PCM allows the the shift to go as fast as it can.

0 disables adaptive shift learning, having all shifts occur as programmed in the base pressure tables.

oh... as fast as the base pressure tables allow.
