    Default High Idle

    Hi guys,

I use EFI Live on my 04 GTO and 00 WS6 and was wondering if there was a way to use it on my 98 Chevy 3500HD(454) Tow Truck to raise the idle for the pto. I was wondering if I could use a simple switch setup so that when the pto was to be used I could flip the switch and raise the idle?

    Thanks

    Tom

You will need V2 to work on the 1st Gen Vortec engines. The only way that I can think to have a switch to raise the idle is---Maybe, Wire a switch into the A/C input to the PCM. You would probably need a diode so that you didn't actually turn on the A/C. Then raise your A/C idle speed in the tune. You would need to look at a wiring diagram to figure out whats what.

Good idea. I never even thought of that. The only problem is when they turn the ac on in the truck that could be an issue. Although it doesnt have ATC so maybe I could just rewire it so the pcm doesnt know the compressor is on. I was wondering if those vehicles supported the valet mode and maybe there would be a way to incorporate it into that.

    Thanks

I have been thinking more about this since my last post. You would probably be better off and it would be easier to install an Idle-up solenoid off of a carburetor. You could make a bracket and mount it so that it kicks up the throttle body arm. I don't think that PCM supports a Valet mode.

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T
MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE
    DUCT TAPE.
IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

411 is the GM part number for a PCM (12200411).

Yep, The 0411 is the nickname for the 12200411 PCM that can control our 96-2000 Old Body Style Vortec trucks. This same PCM is used in lots of 01-02GM vehicles. But, most importantly to us is that it is used in the 01-02 Chevy Express Van and GMC Savannah Van. That Van uses our same engine and trans. If your truck is a 98-2000, Then the emission equipment is the same. The 96-97 Trucks use slightly different emissions, but can still use the 0411 PCM. The 0411 is a 512 MB PCM. It is an LS based PCM and has twice the processing speed of our stock Black PCMs. Several of us have have converted to this PCM. There is some pretty good info on this swap on the PacificP.com forum

I reckon the 0411 swap would be the easiest way to do the PTO high rev setup. Install te 0411 PCM and install the 'valet mode' switch, if that would do the trick!
Speak to Lextech for info regarding the swap. He is the Guru on it!
