Default 98 to 02 swap fuel gauge mess

I have read all the information and I think I am doing it right, but I either have the car run perfect, and the gauge pinned, or the gauge look like it works, the car starts, but as soon as I touch the gas pedal the car stalls like it is out of gas
I used a tune off of holden crazy with stock 99 tune migrated to 2002 Operating system. system 12212156, and the fuel segment says 16264662. I saw something mentioned about turning on an output in the scan tool? is that what I missed?

Um... Do you have a 98 wiring harness on the car with a 99+ tune?

Yes I do. I reflashed with a full flash, now the car runs and the gauge works....but it works backwards.....

The 98 harness is wired very differently that the 99+. The pinouts on the 98 PCM don't match the 99+ pinouts. I believe that might have a cause in your problems. You have a couple of choices:

    1) get a 99+ wiring harness on the car.
    2) change the 98 wiring harness to match the 99+ (Contact "Doc" on this site) by moving around the wires/pins at the PCM
    3) Put back the 98 tune and tune with that on the PCM. I have the 98 tuned for my car and it works fine.

Note: using a 99+ PCM wiring with a 98 cluster will have issues for gauge displays

This has the pin out information for the 98 and 99+

Now see... I don't see that mentioned in the OP. I guess you have it under control now.

Sorry, I assume sometimes....anyway gauge works now, but backwards I had to do a full reflash to get it to run right. Now I am going to reverse the settings....keep any ideas coming

BTW Eboggs Your screen name looks very familiar....I think I remember it from LS1.com when I first got my car in 98.....back when there was NO information. My car has an STS on it, and runs as good, even better in someways now with the stock 99+ tune than it did with the professionally tuned 98 computer.
