usb problems

My v2 will not power up, unless it is connected to aldl in vehicle. I tried another usb cable. How can I update my firmware. When I connect usb to the flashcan the led on the far right just flashes once and nothing happens. I can still program normaly. Some times the scantool won't work and I have to play with the usb connection.

You need to have the drivers installed before the USB port will supply the full 5v required. This is required by the USB standards.

In the past it worked fine. The screen lit up when hooked up to the usb only. It didn't have to get it's power from the vehicle, it powered up off the usb.
