Can I use the EfiLive V1 Scan Tool to scan codes on a 1999 Ford Escort? It has OBDII so I thought that I'd ask.
Thanks Guys!

V1 uses the same physical protocol as GM...
GM uses SAE J1850 VPW (Variable Pulse Width Modulation),
Ford uses SAE J1850 PWM (Pulse Width Modulation).
Ford protocol is different than GM, so the answer is "No".

Thank You Sir! I guess it's back to the paper clip trick!
If you go to AutoZone or equivalent, they have loaner scan tools...Originally Posted by FreddyG

I didn't know that! Thank You again for the info!
Can't you use Autotap with the older V1 cable?
Thanks! I Appreciate the advice!
We just bought one of those cheap scanners from Harbor Freight and it did the trick.
