    Default LS1 ECM Pinouts

I'm adding a few connectors to my bench harness. I've gotten the pinouts for the 98 LS1 (97 seems to not be an LS1 style PCM), and the 99-07 LS1. It appears that the pinouts relevent to a bench harness are the same for both the 98 and the 99-07 EXCEPT the grounds... on the 98 21 & 60 are grounds, and on the 99-07 1 & 40 are grounds. On the 98, 40 is empty. Ideally, I'd like to make the connector work for 98 and 99-07 LS1's. Can pin 40 on the 98 PCM be used for ground?

Edit: It appears that the pinout for the LB7 is IDENTICAL to the 99-07 LS1. Can anyone confirm that for me?

Not sure about the LB7 but pin 40 on the blue connector on the 98 is not used, so go ahead.

Another question: I know we've determined that the LLY & LB7 ECMs are unique (or at least seem to be). Are there any PCM's whose hardware would fall into the 97-98 LS1 category that my V2 has the unlimited stream for other than those in a 97 or 98 LS1? I know there are a LOT of PCM's that LOOK the same or similar, for example, there are a handfull of 2000+ V6's that have 99-07 LS1 PCMs. Maybe there are some 97-98 V6's that have the same hardware as the 97-98 LS1, just different programming?

You can go here http://198.208.187.182/internet/VehiclePartFits.jsp and put in the part number for the 97/98 PCM (16238212) and see what GM vehicles use it.

This is a great tool - a reverse lookup for GM part numbers.

What would happen if you where to ground pin 21 (VSS HI) on the 99+ PCMs? With that circuit, Pin 20 goes to the VSS Sensor, then 21 is the return (or vice versa). How about Pin 60 (REF LOW)?

Is there a list of the various LS1 PCM's? Aside from the possible flash size difference, are there any benefits to using one 99+ PCM over another?
