    Default OBDII cables

will either of the V1 or V2 obdii cables work with the holden VR - VY obd1 cars or are they pinned differently?

The cables that come with Flashscan are OBDII plugs wired directly to a 9 pin Serial type plug (not intended for RS232 connection), so do NOT connect it to your serial port.
You could possibly pin out the 9 pin plug, connect it to a PCB circuit that uses a MAX232 chip which then could be connected to serial port (another 9 pin plug needed)

In other words, in answer to your question, No!

i understand they are straight through cables, I was refering more to the positioning of the pins in the connector end in relation to the obd1 plugs on the VR-VY's
