July 22 2007 Software Update

OK, so I downloaded the most recent software update and now I can't flash my PCM. I get a message that I need version 2.4.57 and my current version is 2.4.47.

Everything was fine before the software upgrade. What's the deal here?

You need to update your V2's firmware:

OK,I see what you're saying. And my V2 interface is sflashing. Where is the firmware utility located?

Now I see what's going on, but even though the .ffw file is on my computer, the efi upgrade stuff says it can't open it. This is silly. There's no reason for this to be so convoluted.

Nothing convoluted. You have to prepare the V2 to accept the firmware upgrade. Lot's of good information on the "Please read first forum."

1) Unplug the RJ45 (OBDII) connection and the USB connector from the V2 interface.

2) With the USB cable connected to your laptop, hold down the CTRL key on the V2 interface while you plug in the USB cable to the V2 interface. You should notice that some of the LEDs on the V2 now toggle side to side.

3) Now open the Firmware Utility

4) In the 'Update FlashScan V2:' section of the program click on the '...' button to locate the firmware file

5) Once you have located the file (above step) click on the 'Program' button. Sometimes the numbers do not go all the way - this is not a problem, it still continues in the background.

6) The FlashScan device will reboot on completion and the update is complete.

OK. I found the file. location is C:\Program Files\EFILive\V7\FSProg_V2_4_60.ffw. When I click program from the upgrade utility I get the message: Please select a valid flashscan firmware file.

Doc, those instructions are nice but they still DO NOT tell you where to "browse" to find the files or in what directory the file is located.

that's the correct file. IS the V2 flashing light to light?

Did you "browse" to that file and "select" it? The "Program" button should run the file if it is selected.

To get it to work I had to drag & drop the file from its downloaded location into EFILive V7 and only then would it load. It's done & working!
