Default Confused after first autotuning run

    Here's what I did:

Converted to 2 bar, scaled the MAP and built a new VE table from my 1bar table
    Setup for open loop running
Setup a dashboard (tres' cool EFI Guys!!), PIDs, and BEN for my PLX
Went out and logged for about an hour and got a lot of data
copied with labels into the tune software, pasting as a factor with labels in the VE table
burned the tune, restarted and logged a short while

While I saw that some of the values had changed (i.e. were 104, now 99) others are exactly the same (were 104, now 104) or we just slightly smaller (were 120, now 118). What gives? I'd think I possibly didn't hit the cells long enough but some of them are my cruise cells.

Also, I seem to have some funky idle / cold start now, where as I didn't with the 1 bar map. Any ideas on that?

    TIA
    Erik

    Default More info

    Map:
    GM Part number 12580698
    Converted the tune by:

    Code:
    Engine Calibration.Barometer
{B0301} Min RPM for Barometer update, changed from "1200" to "7300".
{B0302} Max RPM for Barometer update, changed from "4000" to "7500".
{B0304} Baro Offset Factor, modified (1.0 across the board)
    Engine Diagnostics
{C6001} Engine DTC Processing Enablers, modified.
Engine Diagnostics.ETC (maf ses lights off, codes on, map codes off)
{C6101} ETC Predicted Airflow, modified. (all entries to 4095 -- max value)
    Engine Diagnostics.MAP
{C6301} MAP Sensor Scaler, changed from "80.0000" to "87.0000". (last change - tried a bunch -- 87 = 50 MAP with key on. I'm at sea level. Baro read 79.7, which seems low)

rebuilt the VE as mentioned and to enable open loop running:

    Code:
    Engine Calibration.Fuel.DFCO
    	{B3312} DFCO M6 Speed, changed from "200" to "250".
{B3313} DFCO Temp Enable, changed from "104" to "250".
{B3314} DFCO Vehicle Speed Enable, modified.
    Engine Calibration.Fuel.Mixture
{B3610} PE Delay RPM Bypass, changed from "3000" to "0".
{B3613} PE MAP Threshold, changed from "55" to "105".
    	{B3605} EQ Ratio When in Open Loop, modified. ( 14.1 : 20-30 kpa, 12.1 for the rest - big turbo I won't risk 13.0 :))
    Engine Calibration.Fuel.Trim
{B3801} Long Term Fuel Trim Correction, changed from "Enable" to "Disable".
{B4205} Closed Loop Temp Enable, modified. (changed enable to 252 degrees F)
    Engine Diagnostics.MAF
{C2911} MAF Rationality test, modified. (all values to 0)
I read that the MAF RT should be set to 10 or so, but I have no MAF at all, so I don't really think it matters?

I didn't do anything to the Cranking VE.

Anyone who's done the Autotuning thing run into similar symptoms on the changes?

I updated my cranking VE the way I did the regular VE table and the cold start issue seems to be gone.

I also, I madw 2 more tuning runs, and got the high MAP stuff (80+) to .99-1.00-1.01 in the BEN but all the cruise cells (40-70 kpa) are still all 1.04 ?? Very confused on that but since its the mainly NA, I might let it go...

I think the funky idle may be from being in open loop all the time (although I used to run open loop a lot with the stand alone and never had anything as bad as this)

Did you filter out the throttle transients? If not, that will have an effect on the 40 to 70 kPa range since many of those cells are populated during opening or closing of the throttle.

Erik, I commanded 3rd gear and used a unpopulated road with a long steep hill. It works great for tuning.. You want a steady throttle position for best results. Sinister I'd like to know how to filter the throttle transients. Could you supply a little how to on that ? ?

TurboBz I didn't have the issues you did. I got a few cells with wildly high #'s though. I just smoothed them out and it worked pretty well W/B read very close to commanded A/R after just a couple of logs.

The BEN that I used had a 5% filter built in. I'm just glad the higher map values are settling.

Dennis, I also ended up with some spikes -- I left 'em alone for now and will smooth at the end.

On logged data, click the filter icon on the toolbar - it looks like a gray rectangular "filter".

The filter takes out the throttle transients. The "stock" filter setting excludes all TPS values that are changing by more than 5% per 100ms. Personally, I use a much finer setting due to my huge (2+ hour) log sessions.

Finer like what 2% per 50 ms or something like that?

    Sure, that would work.

Not going to give all my tuning secrets away. The walls have ears.
