YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T
MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE
DUCT TAPE.
IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Now says PCM is in an unknown state?

Long shot, but is the PCM licensed to the cable already?
Yes, I've flashed this PCM quite a few times already. The truck has been out of action for around 2 months and this happened as soon as I tried to reconnect.
The cable unknown issue has been resolved...it recognizes the cable.
I still can't read, write to the PCM.
I can start the scanner and it will connect and log data...things like when I push the accel pedal, the data shows this.
So, all of the sensors are talking OK.

Your PCM is refusing to respond correctly to the "unlock PCM" command that FlashScan is sending it. FlashScan needs to unlock the GM security prior to reflashing or reading the PCM.
I don't know why the PCM is not ready, the only thing I can think of is to turn on the ignition, wait 30 seconds, then try reading the PCM.
If that fails, try ignition off and wait for 1 minute, then on and wait for 1 minute, then try reading the PCM.
That's a long shot it may not work, but its worth a try. It will only take five minutes of your time to try it out.
P.S. I emailed you directly as well.

Thanks Paul,
I'll give it a try this afternoon. I was hoping to be driving the Burb to Sydney on Thursday....doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Tried your suggestions Paul.
Also tried turning the key and the motor won't turn over at all.
Is that PCM related?

I'm pretty sure the PCM won't (can't) stop the engine from cranking.
I'm sure you've checked, but flat battery maybe (or dead starter or solenoid)?

Yeah...just to make sure, I had the battery on the charger all day.
At one stage I think I saw the message whilst trying to read 'no calibration in PCM to read' or some such.
