Default Vortec swap into 57 chevy need help

My dad is restoring a 57 chevy for a guy and he just brought over the frame and drive train today. Well im not sure of the different years of the vortec but it looks exactly like the one in our 98 Z71 silverado. Now all he has is the motor with all the sensors and the painless vortec wiring harness no ecu yet. I want to be able to tune it and remove the egr and some things but I have a v1 and I dont think it work with the 98 style vortec computers. What would you guys recommend is there a ecu I can buy that will hook up to the vortec harness and work with the V1? I can take pictures tomorrow also. I tried to talk him out of it for a TPI intake the vortec intake is fugly.

I think the 0411 PCM is the one you want for this, but Ill let the more knowledgable Vortec guys answer this one for sure. You can do a lot more with the 0411 PCM vs the 98-00 Vortec PCMs, that I know. I think the 0411 PCM can be used with V1, but Im not sure...

I also noticed the harness only had a spot for 1 O2 sensor.

I agree. The 12200411 PCM with the two 80 pin connectors would be the way to go. Is your harness set up for the 96-97 5-Plug PCM or the 98-2000
4 Plug PCM. I have a wiring conversion file for either PCM as installed in trucks. PM me your E-Mail address and which PCM type your harness is set up for and I will send you the wiring file. The tune that you would need for the 0411 PCM is from an 01-02 Express Van. I have tunes with the 4l60 or 80 trans I can send you. EFILive supports this PCM and has Custom Operating Systems for it. I have been running the 12200411 PCM in my 98 5.0 4l80e GMC twin turbo truck for over a year.

Glad to know I was actually right. I dont know if V1 works with the 0411 PCM, I looked at the Supported Vechicles list and see a bunch of Express vans, and the 01+ are V1/V2 as they are a LS1 based PCM, but the 98-00 ones need V2. I would think since the 0411 is a 01+ PCM it should be fine with V1...

And from what I hear, COSs are whats up, unfortunately my I6 probably will never get one. :(

Spdfrk1990 you can also use PCM controlled electric fans if you want. What do you have planned for the fuel delivery system?

Not sure yet on the fuel delivery supposedly he already has a tank with a pump in it. He has a really nice aluminum radiator with electric fans and the aluminum radiator support so that will be an awesome idea. Im not sure this painless harness has a spot for fans though ill have to check it out again. Another thing the 700r4 tranny is setup for a cable driven speedo what part will I need for the vss hookup? Also if needed I could probably have him return the 4plug for the 2plug harness.
