Make sure the Scan and Tune tools are not running and try again. If that is not the problem, start the EFILive_Explorer program and click on the [FlashScan] button to attempt to connect to FlashScan, then...
1. Show the EFILive_Hapi program (i.e. right click on the FlashScan icon in the system tray at the end of the Windows Task bar, and select Show).
2. Goto the Connections->Settings page and make sure FlashScan is checked and AutoCal is unchecked, (unless you are beta testing AutoCal as well).
3. Goto the Trace->Settings page and check both check boxes and set Size to 10000.
4. Goto the Trace page and click [Clear].
5. Goto the Settings page and click on the [Status] button. You should see two green ticks under USB and CNX.
If not, go back to the Trace page and click [Save]. That will save the entire trace - not just tha last 20 lines that are displayed on that page.
Check the error numbers in that file with the error descriptions here:

If it is still not clear what is causing the problem, send the file to me at paul@efilive.com
Note: When you have done all this, uncheck the checkboxes in step 3 to turn off tracing.
