Thread: Wheel sensors

    Default Wheel sensors

    Is there anyway to read the values straight from the wheel sensors? The reason I ask is I am having ABS/ASR problems and I dont know if it's a bad wire or sensor and it would be nice to look at the reply for each sensor and at least know the general direction to look.

    No, at present EFILive doesn't read PIDs from other than the PCM;
    but, EFILive can read DTCs from other than the PCM
    (it may not have a description for each non-PCM DTC,
    but you can look up the DTC in the service manual).

    Thanks. I got the codes. It is showing a bad wheel sensor, so I am going to try and swap the sensors and see if the problem moves.
    I also found this site. Some good info on codes. And tech info for the F-body.

    I just noticed this thread. I know it's been here awhile but...
    Hmm, Why couldn't you use the PCM to monotor ABS?

    Question: Could you disconect the speed sensor from the tranny and patch to the ABS WSS, adjust the gear/tire ratio to match the pulse count of the WSS and then log the VSS and work from VSS pulse count?

    Maggie,

    Spoken like a true engineer...

    Yes, you could patch/splice VSS from one of the WSS and adjust with EFILive Tune Tool;
    Vette's have their VSS after the ring/pinion and EFILive Tune Tool has a check box for this
    ("Transaxle"), so all you would have to alter is the pulses per tire rev.
    Could even make up a subharness so it can be undone in seconds.

    I think Dark Angel was referring to the other ABS controller PID's (there's about 40)
    that give info such as the state of the 8 or 9 solenoids that the ABS module controls.
    EFILive does not read the ABS PID's, but it does read the ABS DTC's.

    Hey... your "get groceries in a race car" sounds familiar...
    wasn't your F-bod written up in one of the magazines
    (...was it Pontiac Enthusiast...?) about 2 years ago...?
    Cool car.

    Cheers

    Joecar, yes it was GMHTP. Great bunch of folks at that mag.
    Thanks for remembering.
