Default just got EFI live where to start tuning

it just showed up today. i am going to try and tune my dad's 03 2500HD first to get the hang of things. its stock other then a exhaust. ive read some of the tutorials to get a general idea. but still just unsure where to start.

im looking to improve some fuel economy and just learn the software on my dads truck.

    Welcome to the forum SimpleManLance!

Take a look in the scan or tune tool help menu under tutorials. Lot's of good stuff in there. Also, if you search the board for "DFCO", I think you find some good stuff for improving fuel economy.

Feel free to post up any questions you may have. Lot's of smart folks here that are more than willing to help out.

Welcome to the insanity! Be prepared to be consumed with a whole new facet of the industry. The best thing you can do is go thru all the tables in the tuning software and "try" to get familair with the functions and realize how much power you really have.

Tuning is a fullfilling but dangerous process if care is not taken. I would suggest that you play with the logging software first so you can better understand what is going on while you drive.

This is a great forum and you will find many bright people who will be here to help you out. Also check out the tutorials that are here.

    Good Luck

Is this a gasser or a diesel?

This is good reading for gasoline.

I was told to start with simple things like changing fan on/off temps.

Then when you go to change something more dramatic and damageable. Take it in small steps.

ok so i just read the 14 page autoVE tuning tutorial all the way through. for a stock truck should i just follow these steps all the way through? except the ones that dont concern a 03 PCM.
