    Question B5104

I know there is a scientific and profound reason for the RPM scale to be like it is but please tell me why it's not something simple like:
    RPM:
    0
    200
    400
    600
    800
    1000
    1200
    1400
    1600
    etc... rather than the:

    0
    256
    512
    768
    1024
    1280
    1536
    1792
    2028
    etc... as it is displayed?

    I think it is wierd!

That is all. I'll be quiet now.

All comes back to easy multiples in CPU maths, picture video card memory sizes in the old days, 4Mb, 8Mb, 16Mb etc, you never saw 7Mb or 13Mb etc.

    1 , 2 , 4 , 8 , 16 , 32 , 64 , 128 , 256 , 512 , 1024 , 2048 , 4096 , 8192 etc.

In the instance of B5104 they are using multiples of 256.
It's funny you mention this though, because the Duramax had the same thing on a few tables but I relabeled them to show close even breakpoints, on the E38 etc there is just too many to do.

    Cheers,
    Ross

    Ahsooooo

Well as soon as my old warped brain stops looking at RPMs in "hundreds", I'll get that 256 base etched onto my dash board. :p
