A co-worker has an 05 impala with 3400 "code e". The speedo has started to act up. I'm wondering if the V2 will atleast do a live scan on it to see if the VSS is acting up, or if it may be the cluster?
Will it do it?
Will it damage anything to try?

It should be able to read the the DTC's for all the modules, and the all the OBD-II data such as readiness tests, freeze frames, vehicle/cal id.
It won't damage anything, but you have to select CAN instead of VPW.
VPW vs CAN? Where do I do that?

It should automatically select the proper bus type (ie VPW vs CAN). Although Ive tried scanning DTCs on 2 Lexus RX300s and dont get squat. I wish I could just clear the DTCs, it would be great.

If it doesn't go to CAN automatically, then just manually set it to CAN.
Dale, should scan one of those no problem.Originally Posted by Dale
In the scanner where it asks for the PCM type, just choose LS1, then once it connects to the car it will validate the PID's you can log.
