    Default Can some body help with 418cid. tune & Log file

    Im having a problem with some tuning, im steal learning have a Tune file with a log file that i run today. Im getting some spark knock, Do i need some more fuel ? If i add fuel with the injector flow rate,My LTFT's go way rich, I think i only need fuel in OL. CL looks o.k. to me, I guess !! Can some one look at my WOT run and see were i need changes, if all changes with my tune file. The engine is a 418 cid, Fast 90/90 intake, Dart Pro1 heads 255cc runners, 2.100 int. & 1.60ext. valves , 4.030 bore ,4.100" stroke, Crane 250/266-.651/.651-112, Long tubs headers, I have all the big goodys, if you need any more info just let me know, thanks for the help.

    Hi Randy,

    Yes, your log shows that you wideband AFR is a bit leaner than commaned AFR, so you should add some fuel... and possibly remove a few degrees of timing from the hi octane table.

    In the tunetool, goto Edit->Properties->Scanner and checkmark both PID linking options;

    then in the tunetool open up table B0101 (VE table);

    then in the scantool position the vertical line cursor at the start of knock retard...

    then in the tunetool you will see the cell highlighted (look at the RPM and MAP of this cell and compare with the log to sanity check), you need to increase this and the few surrounding cells...

    your BEN factor at that point shows what to multiply by (you can enable CALC.BEN_PLX1 on the data tab, and save the log file again).

    If you go to do AutoVE, unselect some pids so that your channel count is 24.

    Cheers,
    Joe

    So if my (scan log) map inHg. is at 27.8 and my WB is at 13.0 and RPM 7000, and in my (B0101 Main VE table) cell is set at 2.1279 , I should raise the number ? to increase the fuel at that moment in time, and the surrounding cell . How far around the cells should i change with it.and what percentage, also I added the CALC.BEN_PLX1 to my data it shows value:1.1
    min.:0.7
    avg.:1.1
    max:1.3 So i sould multiply it by ??????

    In the scantool, change the MAP units to Metric (kPa) on the PIDs tab.

    In the tunetool, change the B0101 (and all other tables) table's MAP units to kPa.

    In open loop (which WOT causes), increasing the VE table and/or MAF table causes an increase in fuel.

    You can increase all the 8 surrounding cells.

    Your BEN shows 1.1 at the cell, which means you need to multiply that cell by 1.1 (i.e. adds 10%); use the average;

    Note that this only applies to open loop and speed density (i.e. no MAF influence).
    I assumed you were not runnig a MAF, but I see you are, then also increase the MAF table to increase fuel.

    You might want to do the AutoVE procedure.

    I had assumed you were running without MAF, but you're not...
    so instead, increase the MAF table to increase fuel, and leave the VE table alone... see if this richens you to 12.6-12.8 at WOT.

    If that gets rid of knock, then good; if not, then reduce timing a few degrees (you need to log the link pid specified by the high octane timing table to see which cell).

    For nitrous spray, you will need to run your AFR to something like 11.7... I'm not the best person for nitrous questions.

    Thank you for the help, I would like not having the mass air but ,i have a 2000 model ,and i have tried to change my OS to a 2001 but when i do i get a ghost check engine light, (no code).and pulse were i live we have erratic climate changes, and Ive herd that speed density can be a pain in the ass with weather changes. so for now I'm staying with the mass air. It's more tamed for me. sence my tuning skills is not good, LOL....

    I took a snap shot of each so you can see what i mean, both pic are from each outher , both are in metric but the tune shows it in kpa but reads in inHg and the log file is fine, it shows in kpa and reads in kpa but the tune file does not
