Find in the Scan tool the pid: Camshaft Position Retard (Vortec).
Log this pid and read it's data.
You must be at certain operating conditions, like warm engine ect.
I think you need to set it at a certain engine RPM.
Check it out while you drive and you will soon see if it is out and by how much.
I think this is what your after?
Cheers

Rev it up, Drop the clutch, See what happens?
You need to log GM.CMPRET.
Warm the car up.
Start the scan tool and rev to +1200 rpm.
Check reading (needs to be +/- 2.0
If not correct...loosen dizzy hold down bolt, turn slightly and rev again to 1200rpm and check.
Everytime you change the setting you need to rev to 1200+ to acquire a new reading.
Once set...tighten hold down bolt....DONE!

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T
MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE
DUCT TAPE.
IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Which version of EFILive are you running?
You might need to update if you haven't already
Look under 'conditions' in the PID list.
