    Default Backup vs Main VE

    Hi,

I went over the below two threads, part of it says the backup VE is used during SD mode and the main VE will be only used when MAF is on or when MAF fails. My question is “if one of conditions to enable SD mode is putting MAF out, don't we consider this step as MAF failure which force the main VE to dial"

    This only applies to 97/98:

I think it works like this:
    - MAF enabled: PCM uses a combination of MAF and main VE.
    - MAF failed: PCM uses backup VE.

When doing AutoVE (MAF is failed), the backup VE is being used and corrected...
you then copy it to the main VE (extrapolating/interpolating by hand for higher resolution).

I didn't follow the posted links, but in regard to a backup VE table, it will be present in the 97-00 OS's.

Well, backup VE is the one that will be tuned during OL SD.
