ONE OFF THE FIRST THING I NOTICE WHEN TUNING VE ON MY 427 WAS THAT I COULDNT ENOUGH IBPW FOR PEAK TORQUE. ACCORDING TO THE LUCAS FORMULA. I SHOULD HAVE 17.696 IBPW @ 5200 RPMS AND I WAS ONLY GETTING 15.240 WITH THE ALMOST STOCK MAF.
THANKS TO JOE AND ANOTHER TUNER I WAS ABLE TO SEE 2 DIFF APPROACHES TO THIS PROBLEM. ONE WAS TO SET THE VE TO WELL OVER 100% LIKE THE NEWER 05'S AND ABOVE SYSTEMS AND CHANGE THE RPM SETTING WHEN THE MOTOR LEAVES THE VE TABLE TO AROUND 6000 RPMS. THIS WORKED OK BUT THE TRIMS WERE DIFFICULT.
THE NEXT WAS TO GET THE VE VERY CLOSE UP TO ABOUT THE 4000 RPMS AND THEN PCM RELYS ON THE MAF. THEN I WAS ABLE TO GET THE IBPW FOR PEAK TORQUE WITHOUT A 140% VE TABLE. IT OCCURRED TO ME THERE MUST BE SOME DYNAMIC RELATION AND FORMULA OF MAP AND MAF AND IFR . THE LS1/6 PCMS MUST HAVE SOME TYPE OF PROM CALCULATION FOR THIS. ( GUYS WHO SAY THE MAF SHOULDNT BE MODIFIED NEED TO KEEP IN MIND THAT WHEN GM SET THERE BASE TUNE FOR THE LS1/6 5.7LTR. IT WAS ALMOST CERTAINLY DONE WITH A WBO2) SETTING A SOMEWHAT GOOD TUNE AMD SENSOR CALIBRATIONS FOR A MASS PRODUCTION LS1/6 AND VARIOUS REQUIREMENTS).
I AM VERY CURIOUS IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT THE FORMULA FOR THE DYNAMIC RELATION OF THES 3 ITEMS MIGHT BE, IT JUST SEEMS THERE HAS TO BE ONE. I HAD A BUILT 5.7 AND THE STOCK PERAMETERS WERE ALL REASONABLY CLOSE. THEN CAME THE 427!!!!! AND IF IT WASNT FOR THE HELP OF GUYS LIKE JOE AND BRUCE A WBO2 WOULDNT HAVE DONE THE JOB WITH WHAT I THOUGHT WERE TUNING ABSOLUTES.
SO IF ANONE HAS THE IFO ON HOW THE PCMS CALCULATE THE CALBRATION OF MAP, MAF, AND IFR. PLEASE SHARE IT. THERE HAS TO BE ONE. RIGHT??? WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?
