Thumbs up TAQ Cables: Wideband to V2 Serial Cables

These are plug-and-play cables enabling you to log your wideband O2 sensor via serial link to FlashScan V2. Learn more about the advantages of serial vs. analog WB logging.

    To order, visit: TAQCables

The following wideband controllers are supported:
    TAQCable sLC1 (~ 3' [1m]) for Innovative LC-1*
    TAQCable sLC1e (12' [3.7m] extension) for Innovative LC-1
    TAQCable sLM2 (~ 4' [1.2m]) for Innovative LM-2
TAQCable sTE (~ 3' [1m]) for TechEdge controllers

Edit: I have dropped the sLM1 from the product line.

*For sLC1 only, custom length cables, from 0.5' (0.15m) up to 12' (3.7m) available for an additional fee

    Default Serial vs. Analog?

Serial communication has many benefits over analog:

    • Accuracy: Serial data is a digital transmission and is not as susceptible to interference as analog signals (i.e. no static. The data packet is either sent or it's not.)
    • Efficiency: Setting up V2 for serial communication takes less than 3 minutes and requires 0 maintenance. Analog configuration requires programming of the WB controller, calibration of the analog inputs, and, in some cases, configuring custom PID's to convert the analog input to AFR, lambda, or EQ ratio.
    • Real Estate: By utilizing V2's serial interface, you now have 1 or 2 more available analog inputs for logging other important stuff (i.e. fuel pressure, oil pressure, oil temp, N20 bottle pressure, etc…). Another good thing, especially for LM-2 users, you can eliminate the WB analog cable!
    • Perks: When utilizing one of the Innovative widebands, V2 can command the wideband controller to perform a free air calibration of the sensors. You can't do that via analog's.
The attached screen shot demonstrates the difference between box-stock serial and analog data. What you are looking at:
    • Brand new dual channel LM-2 w/ new sensors. Updated to the latest LM-2 firmware and performed a free air calibration for both sensors - no other configuration was performed.
    • V2 was formatted and upgraded to firmware 20, followed the steps in the sLM2 instructions to setup V2 for serial communications - no other configuration was performed.
From left to right, top to bottom: Serial Bank1, Analog Bank1, Serial Bank2, Analog Bank2. Theoretically, there should only be 2 visible traces in the chart. However, you can see there is a 0.3% - 3.7% variance between the respective serial and analog values.

Thanks Joe. That reminds me, cables are about 3 - 4 feet in length.

For the price these are being sold for you just would not bother trying to make one yourself. Nice work.

    Cheers,
    Ross
