Default RR Blanked (000000000000) VIN Problems

Ive had the Road Runner for a couple of years now and sometimes I get the problem where I flash it and it blank the VIN to 000000000000000000.

Once its blank I cant scan because the Scan Tool has no reference for what PIDs its capable of. I cant change it in the Tune Tool because it requires it to be done via ODBII and if I change the VIN in the Details Page it makes no difference either.

This is usually with a custom OS. If i flash a bog stock tune back in and then flash the other COS tune back in it sometimes comes good. Other times it doesnt.

Starting to drive me nuts and it seems to be happening more and more and I hate going to tune a car and I have to spend 40mins trying to get a VIN back so that I can scan it etc.

    Any suggestion?

Jez have you tried using the scan tool - bi directional to change VIN.
