Default How do I update firmware and bootblock?

I used the firmware updater on my laptop. It now says I have firmware 2.04.72
It says I have boot block 2.04.10
But if I don't put it in dead poll mode before checking with the firmware updater is says
The attached device has previously been upgraded to bootblock v2.05.xx or greater. The "EFI Live flashscan v2 programmer" can only be used to program devices with v2.04.xx or less. Please use "efi live explorer" program to program devices with bootblock v2.05.xx or greater.
I think it only started doing this after I downloaded v8.1
I was trying to update this stuff so I could use the v2 to switch dsp5 tunes on my lb7. I could not find any option to update boot block but it says it's on the flashscan??

Ok I got it to update the bootblock, but now when I click on the ... in efi explorer it doesn't show the firmware to download. Where is this file located?

Whew, I think so. I just spent forever trying to get all this straight, and asking questions, figuring them out, then coming back and editing my posts. I was trying to update my v2 so I can use it as my dsp5 switch. I think I have it all set now. I didn't realize that I needed to press F4>F1>F4 to update the bootblock. I was looking for a menu option to do so. I don't know why I had gotten that message I noted above because I hadn't updated it yet. All should be good now.

I, too, am looking for the "efilive explorer" program and can find no place to download it from.

Was it in the 8.1 download?? I have not yet upgraded from 7.5.4 and wanted to get FW and bb fixed first. Apparently that order is impossible.

Yes it is in 8.1, you need to upgrade to at least 7.5.5 (Id really recommend 7.5.6, download 7.5.5 and 8.1 from the web then download the public release of 7.5.6 and 8.1.75 from the forum).

    Thanks Erik.

    I got it when I downloaded 8.1.2.

Glad you got it up an running, every install/fw upgrade from here on our will be 100x easier. Its tough coming from 7.5.4 with the old bootblock and firmware, lots of people had trouble upgrading (I did too but was able to flash the unlocked fw back in so I didnt have to send my V2 out).
