Default EFIlive freezing with road runner!

Does any one have an issue with EFIlive freezing while using their roadrunner? I have two laptops and they both have the same issue.

If I open the scan tool with the roadrunner USB plugged in the scan tool will freeze… if I open tune tool with the road runner plugged in the tune tool will freeze, Ctrl Alt Delete will not stop the programs, I have to power down my laptop and start over

I have to make sure that the road runner is not plugged in on start up of both programs to stop this happening.

Once its up and running if I try to open an extra tune tool to look at tables from a different operating system that tune tool will lock, I have to stop connection unplug USB open new tune tool go back to original tune tool plug USB back in and reconnect.

Is this normal for every one else or am I the only one?

what version of firmware is installed on the RR?
RR 12.14R is the version you should have.

Get rid of the standard USB plug/ribbon cable combo and go straight to the PCB header board. There's a mini USB 'B' port you can plug straight into.

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T
MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE
    DUCT TAPE.
IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

How would that help? The integrity of the connection is good, if I connect the USB cable after starting the program it all works well.

Well....it's happened to quite a few of us whereby the RR will either freeze, drop out, stop updating etc because of interference caused by the USB ribbon cable.
Craig is working on a fix for this at present.
Mine used to drop out and/or freeze up daily. Since connecting straight to the internal USB port....it's never done it again....and I use it daily.

Ah that makes a little more sense, but I never have it frezze once a connection is established it is only on startup of each program making me think its more a bug than a hardware issue, but I will give it a shot because there is no harm trying and will let you know the outcome.

    Thanks Howard .

Just make sure you remove the ribbon cable (it unplugs at each end).
Just having the ribbon plugged in whilst using the mini USB port caused it to drop out/freeze.
