    Default ECM, TCM, PCM & BCM Issues Who's the Expert

    Ok, as some may know I transplanted a 6L90e into my VMax. To make the swap work I;

    1. Installed the trans and matching transfer case.
    2. Removed the existing wiring harness and replaced it with a one for a 6.0l with the 6 speed tranny and 4wd.
    3. Reflashed the ECM with a OS from the VIN used to obtain the wiring harness.
    4. Reflashed the TCM with the OS for the same VIN.
    5. Tried to clear the codes in all Modules.. Limited sucess
    6. Installed the proper dash mounted 4wd switch as the VMax had auto track and the new VIN from a HD 2500 doesn't.

    So the new 4wd switch lights up but doesn't work.

    The DIC also shows "Low Oil Level" which it shouldn't right? The Vmax harness had a provision for the "Oil Level Sensor" but the new harness and OS don't have the feature. So why is it still showing up.

    I also get a DIC message "Service 4wd"

    So after trying to clear all possible codes from all the modules I found that I've locked my radio.. It displays LOCKED and is non responsive. I think by trying to change the VIN it may think the radio is a none match or some security issue.. And I'm still w/o 4wd and now my radio.

    So my biggest question is with the reflash of the ECM and TCM why is the DIC still showing "Low Oil Level" if the OS I've installed has no provisions for the sensor? And does anyone have any ideas on getting the 4wd functional.

    Thanks.

    I'm not an expert, I have only messed around with the BCM on my Mrs' Grand Am...

    Were the radio and BCM from the same vehicle...?

    Try the BCM learn procedure:
    - turn key from off to ON;
    - bump the key to START without actually starting (bump the starter);
    - if engine did not start, then BCM enters learning mode phase 1;

    Then:
    - after about 10 minutes, the security indicator flashes,
    - turn key OFF, wait a few moments, turn key to ON,
    - repeat these 2 steps 2 more times [phases 2 and 3] (a total of 30 minutes)...

    This gets the BCM and the radio modules to learn the each others security codes.

    I'm no expert on any of this.

    Thanks for the reply Joe. I'll give it a whirl hopefully it will fix more than the radio!
