    Default OS changes

    Hey guys,
Got a couple questions for yall..

    Number 1
My buddy has a 99 Trans Am, is there a way to put a 2002 OS on his PCM?
I found a tune someone had on Holden Crazy. How is this done?

    Number 2
Is it possible for a 2004 PCM to run a 2002 OS?
I have a 2004 pcm at the house and we are tryin to put a 5.3 in my buddys 98 chevy, So it would be easy if i could do that..

    Thanks guys
    Jonathan

#1: You need to perform a full flash operation which will download the operating system and calibration data to the PCM. Any changes to the calibrations tables will obviously need to be applied (you cannot perform a calibration flash from different operating system numbers).

#2: Basically no. Generally the 2004 PCM will be a 1MB unit whereas the 2002 will be a 512Kb.

    Jonathan,

At holdencrazy.com find the 2002 Camaro file 12212156 for AT or MT (select the same transmission as he has).

His 1999 TA may well run well on the 2002 tables, but you should probably copy the 1999 tables (table-by-table, copy-with-labels, paste-with-labels, tedious 2 hours) or mostly the important ones.

Do full flash as Torne said.

I thought the 98-99 PCM's were the odd bunch and couldn't take a later OS. I was reading about 98-99 Corvette PCM's and thought I read somewhere NOT to try to put a later OS into it, as it might ruin the PCM, or "brick" it. I can't remember where I read this but I'm sure I did, and it was recently because I'm about to tune a co-workers 98 or 99 Corvette.

It might be that the 98 PCM is the one you can't flash and 99 is limited still. The 12200411 PCM is the hot ticket, and what I run in my vehicle currently.

Eric, you mean the 97/98 PCM's.

    1999 and above are ok.

Yes, the 0411 PCM's are cheap, I have a spare...
