    Default Filter applied?

Is there any indication if a filter is applied or not?

    Where are the filters stored?

The filter icon will appear "depressed".
White with a border around it.

Very subtle difference, especially if the cursor remains on it. Thanks for the tip.

Also if you float the cursor over the filter icon you will see which filter is or will be active.
This will be at the bottom of the screen under the fast forward buttons.
